How credits work (and why we priced them this way)

How credits work (and why we priced them this way)

Credit systems can feel opaque on purpose. Ours isn't — here's exactly how it works.

The base rate

1 credit = 15 seconds of an illustrated story. That's it. A 30-second short costs 2 credits, a 45-second one 3, a one-minute video 4, a 3-minute video 12. The duration picker moves in 15-second steps (an illustrated story starts at 30 seconds), so whatever length you choose costs exactly that — nothing is rounded up.

The plans

  • Free — a real trial, not a locked demo. Enough credits to make a couple of short illustrated videos and see the whole pipeline for yourself, at 720p with a watermark.
  • Starter — for trying it for real: 1080p, no watermark and every style, like Creator, with a smaller monthly allowance and videos up to 5 minutes.
  • Creator — for regular use: enough monthly credits for dozens of short-form videos, 1080p exports, no watermark, every style unlocked.
  • Studio — for heavier use and longer videos, with the highest monthly credit allowance.

Exact credit counts and prices are on the pricing page — we're not repeating them here since that page is the one place they can't drift out of sync with what you're actually charged.

Two kinds of credits

There are two separate balances, and they behave differently — worth knowing before you plan a month's worth of videos.

Plan credits are your monthly allowance. They reset each time your subscription renews, so they're meant to be used within the month rather than stockpiled.

Top-up credits are the packs you can buy on top of a Creator or Studio plan — listed under the plans on the pricing page. Those never expire, and they stay in your account even if you cancel later.

When you generate a video, we spend your plan credits first and only dip into top-up credits once the monthly allowance is gone — so the balance that expires always gets used before the one that doesn't.

Running low mid-month?

Creator and Studio can buy top-up credit packs anytime, priced so buying one is always a slightly worse deal per credit than your subscription — a top-up should never be cheaper than just being subscribed, or the subscription itself would stop making sense. On Starter, the next step is Creator.

That's the whole system. No hidden multipliers, no surprise charges — the cost of a video is exactly what the credit calculator on the creation page shows you before you generate it.
